Mann second at North Bend Coast Classic
Lacouture places fourth, Taylor sixth to lead Lady Vikings
Siuslaw senior Jacob Mann was second at 285, senior Jane Lacouture fourth at 145 and sophomore Hailey Taylor sixth at 110 Saturday in the North Bend Coast Classic wrestling tournament.
The Vikings boys were 23rd in a field of 37 schools and the Lady Vikings 18th of 35.
Mann, the No. 2 seed, lost by decision to Hidden Valley senior Mitchell Quist, the No. 4 seed, 9-5, in the final championship match of the two-day event.
Mann was the No. 2 seed and second-place finisher at 215 in 3A last season, Quist the No. 2 seed and third-place finisher at 215 in 4A. Both are wrestling at 285 this season.
Mann scored 23.5 points of the Vikings’ 42.5. Crater won the boys’ title with 270.
Lacouture had 20 points and Taylor 13 points of the Lady Vikings’ 47. Redmond won the girls’ title with 271.
The Siuslaw teams compete this coming Friday and Saturday at the Grants Pass Winter Kickoff.
