Vikings boys lead at Florence Golf Links
Lady Vikings seventh in district at Klamath Falls after their best day in three years
The Siuslaw Vikings golf teams are on a roll, the girls posting their best team score in three years and the boys taking the first-day lead in district championships at Klamath Falls and Florence.
“We are very proud of both teams,” Siuslaw coach Chuck Johnson said. “We look forward to what they can do on Day 2 of their respective tournaments.”
Emily Gortz had a 99, the team’s first score under 100, as the Lady Vikings had a 438 in the first round at Running Y Golf Course for seventh place.
Jenna Young shot 107, Macali Lade 113 and Sydney Barnett 119. Jozy Hulet withdrew, but will play Tuesday.
Ryan Klampe had an 81 for fourth place, Will Johnson 83 for sixth and Braxton Hulet 85 for ninth as the Vikings took the first-day lead at 340 at Florence Golf Links. Western Christian was second with 342.
Micah Blankenship and Camden Linton each shot a 92 to share 21st place.
Blake Knurowski of East Linn Christian was first with 76, followed by Joseph Beyer of Blanchet Catholic with a 77 and Kaden Robinson of Western Christian with 78.
Regis was third place with 353.
For the the girls, North Bend had a 375, Marist 382 and Marshfield 385 for top team scores.
Esha Reddy of Marist was the individual leader at 76, followed by Cassie Lennon of North Bend at 79 and Ashlyn Thomas of Marist at 84.
