Wanted: New booster club president
Cameron Jagoe will step down Aug. 23, the day of the SABC annual auction
Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club president Cameron Jagoe admits he has been losing his focus.
Not a good thing for a professional photographer.
But understandable now that his three kids have graduated from Siuslaw High School.
Jagoe will step down as president on Aug. 23, when the SABC holds both its annual meeting and its annual meeting.
“It’s time for some community-minded person to step up and be president,” Jagoe said Friday, hours before he was scheduled to shoot the 2025 Community Block Party for the City of Florence.
The past few years have been a grind for the small band of committed parents who resurrected the booster club, which had lost its accreditation.
Vice president Londi Tomaro, treasurer Carl Frazier and secretary Deanna Frazier have helped keep up the good fight.
Terri Mason, a special education teacher at the high school, took over as membership chair last year.
“Thank goodness for Terri,” Jagoe said.
Then there is the high school’s new athletic director, Max Perry.
“Max has really brought some new energy into the club,” Jagoe said.
It might be summer, but the calendar is full for Jagoe and cohorts.
An SABC fundraiser in cooperation with the Emeralds minor league baseball club is 5 p.m. Saturday (July 19) at PK Park in Eugene.
The club’s next monthly meeting is 6:30 p.m. this coming Thursday at Siuslaw West, 2360 Kingwood.
The annual auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Three Rivers Casino, with new Hall of Fame member Bob Sneddon once again serving as auctioneer.
Auction items still are welcome and tables at the auction still are on sale. Call Jagoe at 541-997-1138, or drop off items at Pacific Frameworks, 148 Maple Street in Old Town.
The SABC-supported Siuslaw Sports Hall of Fame induction is 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Siuslaw High School main gym.
Meanwhile, if you take in today’s block party, keep an eye out for Cameron.
A pat on the back and a kind word will help him keep focus.
