Coach Nik Remer Recap
Monday, May 4th, 2026 – Girls District Preview at Emerald Valley
Monday was the official practice round for the Girls Golf District Championship at Emerald Valley Golf Club. Unlike many tournaments during the regular season that use maximum hole scores and winter rules, the district tournament will be played under traditional tournament conditions with no score limit and the ball played as it lies.
Senior leader Jozy Hulet has been battling back pain throughout the second half of the season, and with four freshmen supporting her, the preview round gave Coach Davis and Coach Remer an opportunity to see if the team was ready for the challenge of a two-day championship event on May 11–12.
The girls exceeded expectations and showed they are ready to compete at a high level. Jozy led the way with a 116, followed closely by Bella Maldonado with a 118. Freshman Lily Lewis carded a 130, while Violet Ory-Remer finished with a 138 despite a difficult stretch late in the round. For many of the players, it was their first experience on the course, and the added course knowledge and confidence should help the team heading into Monday and Tuesday’s district championship rounds.
Thursday, May 7th, 2026 – Boys District Preview at Salishan
Thursday, the boys team traveled to Salishan Golf Links for their practice round ahead of the District Championship on May 11–12. Salishan is one of the most challenging courses on the Oregon coast, and three of the five Siuslaw players were seeing the course for the first time.
Mason Wright led the Vikings with an impressive 85, while senior Micah Blankenship followed closely with an 86. Lucca Flosi carded a 109, and Yair Brito recorded a personal best score of 111.
The practice round gave the team valuable experience and helped them develop a clear strategy for the district tournament. The top three teams will advance to the State Championship, and the Vikings know they will need two strong rounds to earn a spot. The team is motivated, prepared, and ready for the challenge ahead.
